William I do not know you but I do know the type of person you are. You unselfishly sacrificed your life to protect our freedom. Although not from your home state, know that I do and always will fight to protect your colleagues’ family and friends as a State Trooper. I spent 11 days searching at the WTC with my K-9 partner after the attacks. I saw the devastation that was brought to our country and was deeply saddened and at the same time angered. I cannot describe in words the devastation I observed and like you have probably said to many family members and friends, “You have to see it to believe it.” I am grateful for the men a woman who serve and protect our country, cities and towns. My son Ryan talked of enlisting in the armed services and although I was already proud of him, I was even prouder if it could be possible for his reason. He wanted to protect the people of the United States. I know that there is a special place for people like you and the family and friends left behind. Please know that as there are people like you, there are people like me that are and always will protect your loved ones at home as you protect us afar. Say hi to Ryan for me I know that you met him when he arrived. I know he is in a safe place with standing guard and the heavens shine bright with his smile. Although we have lost both of you, I feel grateful to have had both of you on this earth with me. I salute you William Meeuwsen and God Bless your family and friends. Close

"You are my sunshine"....you wrote me that while in Iraq and now I find the beautiful sunsets you paint from Heaven bring me the most comfort!  I miss you so much Bill, but whenever I go for walks with our little "Dusty Bear" and/or I'm greeted by the shining sun lowering towards the horizon...in those moments I feel at peace; that peace goes straight to my heart!  You always made me feel so special while you were alive and even now you continue to bless me from heaven!  I know I'm still scared to move forward with my life without you, but I believe that with each day (good or bad) or when the tears won't stop...you will grace me with your love, you will regain my hope & you will direct me to follow the course of our Lord.

What a handsome young man William was. I am so sorry for your loss. I am so proud of all of our soldiers who are defending our freedom. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are continually with you and your family as well as all the soldiers fighting across this world. My husband is in the Air Force and has traveled overseas but thankfully not to Iraq. What a sacrafice your family had to make, but I know you are all so proud. God Bless and protect your family. Know that Williams love and memories will always be with you. He was a wonderful man and a very brave soldier. You were very blessed to share the life of such an awesome person!

hey billy, 
you were in my dreams last night. i love it when that happens. i got to see your huge smile and we were laughing together...magical monkey...it was magical. but then i woke up and remembered you are gone. but you still echo in my head and heart and i am so thankful for that. this morning i drove to work listen to DMX in honor of you. i know it's silly but it makes me smile...it's nice to smile. oh and one more thing, kyle and i are going skydiving on sunday to celebrate our anniversary. i know i've told you but thank you for helping me find him....i wouldn't have been able to with out you. and billy, kyle and i are getting married. how wonderful is that? i know you would be so happy for us if you were still here. he's really really good to me. he loves me and loves calypso, dakota and benny and gives all the animals love (i know that's important to ya).
i miss you. it's almost been a year since you've been gone and it's been over a year since i've talked to you last. it's still really hard lots of days but i'm trying to stay strong, most the time i am and then it's little things that get me.  
but i know i will see you again and that puts the BIGGEST smile on my face.
